After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in English Teaching, I began my career as an English teacher at a municipally administered senior high school in Shantou in 2009. To further develop my professional expertise, I pursued a Master’s degree in TESOL in 2018 and graduated with Merit (Upper Second Class Honours).
Through years of teaching and academic training, I have come to regard collaboration between teachers and students as essential to effective language learning. My teaching philosophy is grounded in reflective and systematic practice, with a focus on students’ learning needs and strategies. My research interests include action research, lexical chunks, and the cultivation of students’ intercultural competence in ELT contexts.
Since joining the English Language Centre (ELC) in 2020, I have taught courses such as English through Art, College Integrated English I & II, and Language and Intercultural Communication. I have also taught Chinese reading and writing to international students at the School of International Education, further strengthening my experience in multilingual and intercultural teaching settings. In addition, I serve as the coordinator of CILL services and workshops, as well as a consultant for the “Chinese Room,” where I organise Chinese-major student tutors to support international students’ Chinese learning. Drawing on my diverse professional experience and solid academic background, I have developed a strong interest in intercultural communication in foreign language teaching and plan to continue pursuing related teaching practices and research in the future.
