Developing New Global Studies Programs in China: Challenges and Opportunities
2013年10月18日至10月20日，汕头大学国际研究中心将举办题为“中国全球研究学科建设：机遇与挑战”的第二届全球研究研讨会。承接去年关于“21世纪全球研究新方向”的探讨，今年的研讨会将聚焦于申办汕头大学全球研究专业项目的概念基础与筹划安排。
Center for International Studies in Shantou University will hold its second Global Studies Symposium, “Developing New Global Studies Programs in China: Challenges and Opportunities,” in October 18-20, 2013. Continuing from last year’s discussion on the New Direction of Global Studies in the 21stCentury, this year’s meeting will focus on the conceptual basis and logistic arrangements for developing a new Global Studies Degree (MA and BA) Program in STU.
本 届研讨会邀请了来自美国、印度、日本、中国等国内外全球研究项目的著名学者。他们将会带来其筹划全球研究项目的专业经验，分享其对全球研究的理解，探讨全 球研究对中国尤其是汕头大学所具有的重要意义。来访学者还将讨论诸如全球研究专业项目如何培养学生的专业技能，使学生能够应对全球化背景下市场竞争的新要 求等问题。届时，国际研究中心也将分享其申办全球研究专业项目的背景和准备情况，及其所面临的困难与挑战。
We invite our distinguished colleagues from well established Global Studies Programs (in the U.S., Japan, India, and China) to share with us their expertise in developing their own programs, as well as their understanding of Global Studies and its importance for China and STU in particular. Visiting experts will also discuss Global Studies from the point of view of preparing students with skills and experiences to meet the demand of a competitive market place in a globalised world. CIS will report on our assets and preparation for creating a GS program at STU and the challenges we face.
