Chinese Literature

Chinese Literature (bimonthly), founded in 1985 and sponsored by Shantou University, is the first publication on the Chinese mainland dedicated to publishing literary works and criticism from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and overseas Chinese communities. Originally the official journal of the Chinese Association of World Chinese Literature, it is now an academic journal that mainly publishes scholarly research on the literature of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese communities. The journal has been included in the extended edition of the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) (2014–2020), the Peking University Core Chinese Periodicals list (2014 and 2017 editions), and the AMI Comprehensive Evaluation Report of Chinese Humanities and Social Science Journals (listed in Category A, extended edition in the 2018 report; indexed in Category A in the 2022 report).

The journal follows a double-blind peer review process. Its pages are open to all contributors, and outstanding manuscripts receive competitive remuneration. No page charges or review fees are levied. In addition to its standing regional research columns on the literature of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Chinese American literature, Southeast Asian Chinese literature, Canadian Chinese literature and Australian Chinese literature, the journal also features columns such as “Theoretical Perspectives,” “Overseas Sinology,” “Translation and Dissemination,” “Interviews” and “Review Essays.”

Our founding principle is “to let ideas and scholarship flourish here”. We cordially welcome submissions from all members in the academic community.
